Our bookcases are stable and can easily support heavy loads. Height-adjustable shelves make it possible to optimally accommodate books of different sizes. You can add doors, glass doors and drawers to customise the functionality and appearance. Details such as plinths, back panels and skirting board cut-outs can also be customised.

Delivery is made to the living room, and we also offer an assembly service on request.
Design your custom bookcase
Choose the exact dimensions of your bookcase. The width can be set to the centimetre between 30 cm and 600 cm, the height between 30 cm and 300 cm and the depth between 15 cm and 60 cm. This means the shelf fits perfectly into any niche or becomes an impressive library.
Choose from high-quality materials such as solid wood, multiplex, decors, MDF or veneer to give your shelf the style you want and the stability you need for heavier books.
Determine the number of columns and the arrangement of the shelves. For bookshelves, it is particularly important to design the shelf heights flexibly in order to optimally accommodate books of different sizes. Height-adjustable shelves are a must.
Equip your bookcase with doors and drawers if required. You can integrate glass doors to protect valuable books, hinged doors or flap doors to extend the functionality and refine the look at the same time.

A standard paperback book has a depth of 12 cm, a reference book is usually 17 cm deep and a DIN A4 book is 21 cm deep. Here at Pickawood Europe, we recommend that you configure shelving for books an additional 2 cm deeper. If you want to configure your shelf with a back panel or doors, we recommend planning your shelving 2 cm deeper in each case.
At Pickawood Europe, we recommend that you always fix your shelf to the wall. We enclose the appropriate bracket fixtures with your order.
Our solid wood types as well as our plywood are particularly resilient materials and are therefore especially suitable for your custom-made bookcase. You can also improve the stability and load-bearing capacity of a bookcase by planning the columns or shelves to be as narrow as possible. This also applies to wine racks, where the individual compartments also have to bear a lot of weight.
A combination of materials is possible with a few exceptions, so you do not have to decide on one material for your bookcase. You can plan structures and fronts in the configurator in different materials according to your tastes. A popular combination of materials is, for example, is an oak structure and varnished drawers.
Top and bottom panels as well as side-panels have to be divided when the following dimensions are exceeded: MDF/ chipboard/ real wood veneer: 272 cm, plywood: 245 cm, solid wood: 300 cm. The division is based on the maximum panel dimensions available in the trade. Please discuss with us where your division should be. Otherwise we will make a division that is advantageous for the construction.
There are various ways of arranging your books on your shelf. For example, you can sort the books by colour, this is soothing to the eye. If you prefer to keep your arrangement simple, you can place the books on your shelf with their backs to the wall. You can also divide the layout and order by placing some books vertically and horizontally in your bookcase. In addition to books, decorative elements such as figurines, vases or small plants can also be placed on a shelf. Our colour choices allow your bookcase to match your room.
These are configurations of shelves, cupboards and sideboards that you can either add to your shopping basket as shown and specified on our website or can be utilised as inspiration when planning your furniture. You have the option of adapting the products to your wishes in our user-friendly online configurator. If you have any questions about our pre-configured products, our team of specialist furniture consultants will be happy to help.
For a small bookcase, assembly will usually only take an hour. However, if you have chosen a large bookcase, the assembly can take several hours. If you need assistance with the assembly, our clearly diagramed assembly guides are provided with your order and are also available on our website here.
The smallest width in our configurator is 30 cm. If you are planning a narrow but high shelf, we strongly recommend that you fix the shelf to the wall.
The most frequently ordered colour for our bookcases is white. Therefore, we offer various white coatings and varnishes. However, you can of course choose from many other colours and solid wood types.
If you are planning a bookcase without a plinth, you can select the wall hanging option in the last step of our configurator. In this case, a wall bracket with a load-bearing capacity of 60 kg per panel will be embedded in each vertical panel. Please note the total load-bearing capacity and ensure that your shelf is fixed to a solid wall.
